What a contractor website needs to get more calls
Storefront Web Studio ยท October 2026
People looking for a contractor decide in seconds whether to call. Your site has to answer three questions on the first screen: what do you do, do you work in my area, and how do I reach you? Everything else on the page backs those answers up.
On the first screen
- Your phone number, one tap to call. At the top, and pinned to the bottom of the screen on phones so it's always in reach.
- What you do and where, in plain words. "Roof repair and replacement in Tulsa and Broken Arrow" tells people more than "Quality you can trust".
- Your Google rating. "4.9 stars from 210 reviews" next to the call button does more than any slogan.
- One main button. Call, or request an estimate. Not five choices.
What builds trust
- Real reviews, with the customer's first name and the town
- Photos of your own jobs, crew, and trucks
- Your license number and insurance, where your trade requires them
- Years in business, warranties, or financing, but only what's true
- A face: the owner or the team, so people know who's coming to their house
What saves you phone tag
- Each service with a sentence or two on what it covers
- The towns you serve
- Your hours, and whether you take emergency calls
- A short form: name, phone, and what they need
- Answers to the questions you hear every week, like "do you charge for estimates?"
What to leave out
- Slideshows that rotate before anyone reads them
- Stock photos of smiling models in hard hats
- A long "about us" story before your services
- Pop-ups and PDF downloads
- Anything that makes the page slow on a phone
Behind the scenes
- Fast on a phone, on cell data, not just on office Wi-Fi
- HTTPS, the padlock in the address bar
- Linked from your Google Business Profile, with the same name, phone number, and address on both
- Words about each service and town on the page, so Google knows what you do and where
- A domain registered in your name
Check your own site in one minute
Open your site on your phone. Can you find the phone number, what you do, and the towns you cover within five seconds, without scrolling? If not, start there. If you don't have a site yet, see whether you need one and what it costs.
